Welcome to The Wild Bride, by husband & wife duo, Jon James & Emilie Layla Lovaine-James. Born & raised off the coast of Wales, we travel wherever our wild brides and grooms take us, shooting weddings across the globe, capturing love in its most natural form.
We started off as best friends, to then band mates, to then falling in love at university, while both studying Photography for Fashion & Advertising, to now newly-weds 10 years later! We love everything about what we do and we know we are so lucky to get to work alongside each other, as husband and wife and best friends, capturing weddings all across the world. Being a couple ourselves, it came so naturally to us, being able to capture each couple's unique love for each other. We are adventurers at heart, and when we aren't taking photos or videoing your weddings, you'll find us somewhere in Wales in our camper-van, with our surfboards, looking for waves!
We've both spent nearly 10 years working in music and lifestyle photography & video, working on campaigns for record labels and fashion and lifestyle brands like Roxy, Billabong, Adidas and more, as well as being published and interviewed in magazines like Asos, Company, Cosmopolitan, Nylon, Kerrang, Huck and Surfgirl. We were also lucky enough to have become finalists in the professional photographer of the year awards. It wasn't until we were booked to capture our friend's weddings that we realised just how much we LOVED being a part of such an important and special day, capturing something a little different than the normal 'traditional' weddings.
The Wild Bride was created for the Bohemians, Gypsies and Mermaids, for the more non-traditional, wild & free weddings. We love working with couples that create weddings unique to them and what they love, couples that don’t just follow tradition or do things to tick a box, but really get creative! We love shooting weddings in rustic barns to bare foot beach ceremonies, to wild forest elopements, anything that’s a little bit different than the traditional wedding.
For us the most important thing is staying true to our brand and what we are passionate about, we don’t just say yes to every enquiry that comes our way if we feel it’s not the right fit. For us everything has to line up, do we click with the couple? does the venue and styling fit with our brand? I think that’s what makes us different, we don’t just say yes to every enquiry to pay the bills, it’s not about how much money we can make, it’s about making sure we are the right people to capture and tell that couples unique love story.
